What is Podiatry?

Podiatrists are university trained allied health professionals that specialise in the prevention, diagnosis, and rehabilitation of a large spectrum of foot, ankle and lower leg problems.

 

They are registered with the Australian Health Practioners Regulation agency with governs all Australian Allied Health Providers

 

Our team has many years’ experience in the profession dealing with a wide range of complaints from complex sports injuries to minor issues such as ingrown nails.

What are your consultation fee's?

Claremont Podiatry is a private billing clinic which means there will always be an out of pocket cost to consult with one of our podiatrists. Our consultation fee’s range from a standard consultation($65) to extended ($85) depending on the nature of your problem you are presenting with.

Any additional or further fee’s for prescribed treatments will be discussed with you at the time of your consultation.

Our Services can be accessed privately, through private health and sometimes through Medicare. We only Bulk Bill Direct Veterans Affairs (DVA) patients with white or gold cards.

 

If you have been referred by your GP under a team care arrangement for chronic disease management, sometimes referred to as an EPC or care plan you will be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $53.80 thus there will only be a $11.20 gap fee for our services for a standard consultation.

 

Foot and ankle complaints can have a detrimental effect on someone’s quality of life and we strive for the best results aiming to provide the highest quality care to our patients.

Is Podiatry right for my problem?

Podiatrists are usually one of the best professionals you should initially see with pain or problems affecting the foot and ankle. They work in a holistic and multi-disciplinary manner to ensure that you have the right diagnosis, treatment and education surrounding your problem.

 

If they cannot assist you they will usually know the best person to consult with and often work with other professionals to maximise patients outcomes.

 

Our Podiatrists take an evidenced-based approach to patient care applying the latest in research and knowledge into there treatments and care of your problems. In our experience, many problems in the foot & ankle can be resolved or greatly improved with podiatry assistance and often should be exhausted prior to considering more invasive treatments such as injections, pain medications and surgery.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No referral is required to see one of our podiatrists. You are able to see a podiatrist privately, with private health insurance and sometimes through a care plan from your GP. They are cost-effective practitioner when you consider the years of training and experience in this specific area of the body. They are able to recommend the appropriate imaging or scans to fully diagnose your condition. Podiatrists work closely with GP’s to provide appropriate management of many foot problems. They also work closely with physiotherapists, osteopaths and orthopaedic surgeons for optimum patient care.

What is involved in an Initial Assessment?

In determining the cause of your injury, a thorough history will be taken, an evaluation of the problem and the causes will be discussed with you. Sometimes more dynamic assessment of walking, running and sports-specific activities will be conducted. Based on the results of these assessments, a comprehensive treatment regime will be discussed with you.

Do you accept Private Health Insurance?

Yes, all of our clinics have onsite HICAPS machine’s available for easy access to private insurance rebates. We work with all major providers. The rebate amount depends on your level of cover and varies between health funds. Once this has occurred your gap fee will be required to be paid at the time of your consultation.

 

Most private health funds will rebate on all of our services from appointments to custom orthotics as well as minor nail surgical procedures.

Do you see children?

We are trained and experienced in the treatment of kids and teenages foot and ankle conditions. We understand the physiology of each tiny bone, ligament and muscle in a child’s growing foot and ankle. We off specialty podiatric treatment of children of all ages who are showing the signs of congenital or acquire foot health complications, such as pain, structure issues or abnormal walking patterns. Young feet have many foot conditions that can be prevented or reduced with early management. Children suffer from growing pains, flat feet, sever’s disease, ingrown toenails, bunions, hammer toes just to name a few.
